City Life or Country Mouse

Do you prefer the city life or the country lifestyle?

If you buy in Idaho or another rural state, you’re buying in a place to raise a family, and the proximity to the outdoors, skiing on snow or water, which is just thirty minutes away, and then so you’re not to living in a house without a yard or in some compact apartment.

But your home should act like a landing place to relax in after all your outdoor adventures, not a place to stay indoors. One of the best things about Idaho is that you get four seasons, there’s little traffic, there are good schools, you can bike, hike, run, ski, water ski, snowmobile, and not deal with the hustle and bustle of the city life. However, if you live in a city like San Francisco you can hop downtown via the subway to some of the world’s best restaurants or drive down to the beach to watch the sunset.

The ideal investor or property buyer in Idaho is someone who wants to live in the country and own a small farm or an orchard. They’re not concerned with making money by growing fruit or milking cows, but more interested in self-sufficiency and having something to do after they’re retired. These couples buy small wineries in Napa, California or small pieces of land to own horses, say in a place like Idaho.

As a real estate investor, you want to think about the type of buyer or renter you’re seeking. What type of property broadens the demand rather than narrowing it? Sure, there’s a smaller group of buyers who most likely want to own a farm or orchard, but at the same time there’s a smaller group of investors who can afford to own or want to own a large home like a McMansion.
